What does the Earth mean for us? Our planet? Our World? Our universe? Our home? Or the border of our thoughts?
Mankind is searching universe (only possible areas that we can reach by our technology) whether are there any intelligent life forms or not. What if our researches are similar to efforts of parazites who live on one ant body whose aim is to find another life form outside of the ant body. What could you say about these parazites and their World. Are they dangerous or do they carry a potential to be a dangerous? I think most of our answers are same and simple. “Harmless” which is written in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy right in front of our planet's name Earth.
Douglas Adams described our World as harmless planet and as worthless as it can be demolished for hyperspace bypass road in his phenomenon radio comedy.
The Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy was created by Douglas Adams in 1978 as a radio sci-fi comedy for BBC. It became a modern phenomenon in following years and 4 more additional books were added by Douglas Adams. It was later adapted to another formats like novel, cinema, cartoon and computer game.
It is the story of a man (Arthur Dent), a galaxy hitchhiker Ford Prefect (who named himself after the Ford Prefect car to blend in with what was assumed to be the dominant life form, automobiles), Zaphod Beeblebrox the Galactic President, the depressed robot Marvin and a woman Tricia McMillan. Although their story and dialogues are enough to make rood enjoyable, the most exiciting part of the book is its answers and comments on some unknown things or things that we think we know.
You can learn benefits of towels, most intelligent lifeform in the earth, meaning of life, meaning of 42, vagon race, bible fish etc. by reading The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
Guide's influence in the World is more than in his home country. Guide, Dr.Who and Monty Python (Douglas Adams had worked in both three projects) three legendary multimedia projects were pillars of Anglophile in the World in 70's and 80's.
